The Soul of a Building

From my Chicago Through My Eyes collection, "The Soul of a building" captures buildings essence. The photos in this collage were taken almost exactly two years apart. I used this site to study the demolition of a historical structure and the emergence of something new.

As someone who deeply loves historical buildings—but also embraces what I call “The New”—I believe in the need for balance. We must preserve what’s meaningful from the past while encouraging fresh design that doesn’t rely solely on old principles.
